Everyone has a story to tell. No matter who we are, and at what stage of life we are in, each of us has a story that is uniquely US. Even if we are not necessarily aware of that story, those who are closest to us know it well. Our goal is to capture that story effectively through photography.
So what’s your story? That’s the first question we ask when beginning a new relationship with our clients. What do you like? What do you do? What is it that people immediately think about when they think of you? The answer to these questions is what guides the photography, and it serves to create portraits that are guaranteed to be uniquely YOU.
SO WHO IS THE IDEAL SUBJECT?
While anyone is capable of telling a good story, we find overall that kids make the best subjects for this kind of photography. Why? For several reasons. They are typically the most willing. They love to “dress up”. They are usually not reserved, thus making their story easier to identify. They are outgoing. They really like to have fun. Their stories are ever evolving, and they change often.
This means that we end up photographing kids more frequently, and find that parents can really get excited about this chance to forever capture their little ones at the various stages of their lives.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We are a team of 3 people who work together in creating the images that will best tell your story. This involves several elements and we collaborate heavily with you to achieve the best results. Are there special outfits for the photo? Is there a customary accessory that gets the message across? Does the environment the subject will be occupying matter? Does the subject have certain personalty traits that will be helpful in the shoot? These are all the types of things we identify in the pre-planning stage and we work very closely with you to establish a firm idea so that on shoot day everyone is on the same page. The majority of the sessions take place at the studio in Midtown Atlanta, although we do sometimes shoot on location if necessary.
Sessions are booked in 4 hour blocks although actual shoot time is normally not more than 90 minutes, and in that time we will typically shoot 2-3 different outfits, capturing multiple stories. We involve our clients heavily in the shoot and highly encourage parent interaction, often recruiting them as “photo assistants” so that they may fully experience the moments that lead up to the creation of the portraits. Images are frequently reviewed along the way guaranteeing that we remain on track. The goal is for the client to leave not only with a strong sense of exactly how successful the shoot went, but also with an enthusiastic anticipation to see the final images.
